A modern family business with 80 employees which operates worldwide as the leading producer of laboratory instruments for sample preparation and particle size analysis – with its own development department and production facility in Idar-Oberstein.
Managing director Robert Fritsch describes the current situation of the family enterprise as follows, “We operate worldwide in a niche market with our innovative product developments for laboratory scale sample preparation and analysis. Our customers have the highest demands in regards to quality and service. These include research institutions of all kinds, government agencies and developmental departments of large or medium-sized companies.”
In the beginning of the year 1920, FRITSCH sold as a technical gemstone merchant, agate mortars for the production of powders to pharmacies and chemical laboratories.
Today FRITSCH generates revenue of approximately 18 Million Euro with 80 employees at the headquarters in Idar-Oberstein and the subsidiaries in France, Russia and Singapore, as well as with additional trade partners worldwide. Two thirds of the revenue are generated by the product line laboratory mills.
Technical director Wolfgang Mutter explains that in order to maintain the “quality claim without compromise” FRITSCH instruments for the most part are developed and produced in-house. An additional modern production facility was built in the Langenfelder Straße.
A major problem for managing director Robert Fritsch is the internet connection of the company “We urgently need a fast internet connection”. This problem applies to all companies in the industrial zone. Lord Major of Idar-Oberstein Bruno Zimmer is already in contact with Telekom in this matter. The member of the Bundestag Fritz Rudolf Körper promised “to broach the subject again.”
Another challenge for FRITSCH is the recruitment of personnel. Robert Fritsch explained, “We need qualified personnel in technical-scientific areas. Here we have to make a considerable effort to win suitable personnel for the location Idar-Oberstein. For the hiring of apprentices we directly address the schools.”
Fritz Rudolf Körper said after his visit “Fritsch is a “light house company” in our region which not only managed the structural change successfully, but is also well positioned for the future.
