It was the perfect setting for the farewell of Mister Laboratory: A historical, partial solar eclipse paired with the first day of spring.
During a small celebration Robert Fritsch, managing director along with Wolfgang Mutter, technical director and numerous colleagues bid farewell to FRITSCH Laboratory Manager Ulrich Gerber after an over 43 year career with FRITSCH Milling and Sizing.
Mr. Gerber began his career in 1972 and was responsible for the establishment of the laboratory. Back then, the laboratory department was rather an accessory and was organized and established from the ground up by Mr. Gerber. The first laboratory data base created by him was a wooden box with a vertical file system and for the sales staff as a reference, the results of the test grindings were recorded on index cards.
During his speech, Robert Fritsch emphasized the enormous scientific competence and high degree of empathy of the future retiree: Mr. Gerber supported management amongst other things during strategic decisions in regards to new product launches. Worldwide FRITSCH customers and colleagues appreciate his immense know-how in the area of sample preparation which he always skilfully conveyed.
Afterwards Ralf Fischer, chairman of the work council, Wolfgang Simon, sales manager and Leos Benes, the new laboratory manager, addressed Mr. Gerber and shared amusing anecdotes.
Mr. Gerber thanked all those present for the small celebration and assured colleagues that he would remain at FRITSCH with reduced hours, thus easing the transition from a full- time occupation into retirement. The entire FRITSCH staff wishes Mr. Gerber all the best for the future and above all good health.
